Luxury vinyl flooring mimics natural materials

Ceramic, stone, and hardwood are used to create beautiful flooring materials. If one of these materials is not practical for your home or the cost isn't feasible, luxury vinyl flooring is a good alternative. This multi-layer, synthetic floor covering comes in planks that mimic hardwood and tile that imitates all three natural materials. If you live in the Scottsdale, Arizona, area, you can find a wide variety of luxury vinyl products at Carpet Source. We have been in business since 1979, so we are flooring experts!

Four-layer construction

Luxury vinyl tile, LVT, and luxury vinyl plank, or LVP, has a backing, core, design, and wear layer. The core makes up most of the plank or tile, and the backing provides support for the other three layers. The transparent wear layer on the surface protects the high tech design from stains, scratches, and everyday wear. Therefore, it is essential to choose a product with a thick wear layer, preferably 20+ mil. Many of the best products have a coating on top of the wear layer, which provides additional protection.

Waterproof core

LVT and LVP that have a wood-plastic composite core or a stone plastic composite core are waterproof. The main component in a WPC core is wood byproducts, while an SPC core is mainly limestone. WPC and SPC flooring are very durable, but since SPC flooring is virtually indestructible, it is the better product. However, WPC flooring, which includes a foaming agent, is softer underfoot. WPC flooring feels similar to the material it mimics. In addition to providing peace of mind, waterproof floors offer easy-to-clean convenience. The toughest brands are designed for pet owners and active households.

Installation

Luxury vinyl flooring can be installed over cement slabs and some existing flooring and radiant heat systems and traditional subfloor materials. While there are glue-down brands, most LVP and LVT are designed to click and lock together to construct a floating floor that requires no attachment to the subfloor. It's easy to replace a plank or tile that becomes damaged, which may add to the floor's lifespan. If the underlayment is not attached to the flooring, a layer is placed beneath it before installation to provide cushioning and noise reduction. Carpet Source serves communities in central Arizona, including Scottsdale, AZ, Phoenix, AZ, Mesa, AZ, Tempe, AZ, Chandler, AZ, Gilbert, AZ, Paradise Valley, AZ, Cave Creek, AZ, Glendale, AZ, and Peoria, AZ. In addition to installation, we offer services that make it easy to upgrade flooring in your home. These include free estimates and convenient financing. We can answer all of your waterproof flooring questions via phone or a visit to our showroom.
