Carpeting is manufactured by sewing loops of fiber onto a backing, and this loop pile can be cut to create several styles. Pile describes the length of fiber strands as well as the density of the fibers. A cut pile is softer than a loop pile. The durability of cut pile styles is partly determined by turns per inch, or TPI, of fiber strands. Fibers are turned or twisted to prevent unraveling. A 6.0 TPI is desirable. Look for a brand that has a low loop pile if you want the most durable style available.
Durable and stain-resistant Mohawk SmartStrand Forever Clean carpet features All Pet Protection & Warranty. According to Mohawk, the carpet protection system covers ‘all pets, all accidents, all the time.' Since there is 0% moisture absorption, this innovative carpeting does not retain odors. Fibers are softer than traditional carpet fibers and, because of the Nanoloc spill and soil shield, easier to clean. Contemporary styles are available in up to 60 colors.
